September of last year the Cherry Mobile Flare was introduce to the Philippine market running on an Android 4.0 out of the box or the Ice Cream Sandwich as we all know. By that time who would deny that this 3,999PH-Peso phone with 4-inch IPS touch display is best thing that ever happened to Android seeking Pinoys, full specs here if you are not familiar with the device. Anyway, if you have the smartphone here is a reason to be exited again, early this week Cherry mobile announced an upgrade of the flare to Android
4.1 4.0.4, the Jelly Bean flavor of Google OS and its ready for download. Instructions on how to do the upgrade can be found below.
Update 01-19-2013: just today my friend Mark who has this unit text me that its not a Jelly Bean update, but it actually retain its original OS Ice Cream Sandwich with some additiinal app like FM radio, screen rotate inside SMS and maybe more. I will be meeting Mark tonight and play with his flare to see the deference. and to those who applied the said upgrade do share your experiecen to us.
Mark didn’t notice any change or improvement on battery life to conclude that the upgrade did enhance battery capacity/life.
As noted by CM the Upgrade will not erase files save on your SD drive, unfortunately you need to re-install all your application after the upgrade. The said platform upgrade will somehow magically fix a couple of bugs
from the older OS like for example G-sensor, auto rotate (SMS) and FM radio support.
